The Election Commission will conduct year-round voter registration
from next year.
This is to provide more opportunities for Malaysians to register
as voters upon reaching the age of 21, Prime Minister's Department
parliamentary secretary Datuk Noh Omar told Azizah Mohd Dun.
To facilitate such
registration, the commission will open counters at government departments
and agencies frequented by the people, he said.
They will also, be
able to register anytime of the year at the commission headquarters
or state election offices, he said.
The government does
not propose to introduce a system of automatic registration of citizens
as voters upon reaching the age of 21. Noh said.
"The present system
is operating smoothly, hence the government does not propose to
introduce automatic registration." - Bernama
