Message from
Chairman Election Commission of Malaysia
TAN SRI DATO' SERI
HJ. AB. RASHID BIN AB. RAHMAN

Welcome to the Homepage of SPR,

The Homepage is an attempt by the Election Commission of Malaysia to reach its main clients, viz, the electors, political parties and the general public. This Homepage gives some basic information about our system of government, the Election Commission, its organisation, powers and functions, election laws and guidelines on the process of elections, including the mode of registration of electors and the electoral roll.

The information here will be useful not only to prospective candidates but also to students and the general public for a better understanding of parliamentary democracy and democratic elections in Malaysia. Further details can be obtained from the Commission's resource centre which includes the library, museum and the mock-up of the polling station. In addition, an elector can easily check his registration details in the electoral roll by using the website facility.

To be more effective in discharging its duties, the SPR Headquarters is now linked to all its State Offices through internet connections. In the like manner, it is also linked to the National Registration Office, the Record Section of Ministry of Defence and Police Headquaters to facilitate registration of electors and updating of the electoral roll. In addition, hot links are maintained with a number of organisations, both in and outside the country.

I hope this Homepage will serve as a useful guide not only to candidates, their agents and workers but also a complete menu of information to those who are interested to know how democratic elections are conducted in Malaysia.

Yours sincerely,

TAN SRI DATO' SERI HJ. AB. RASHID BIN AB. RAHMAN
Chairman
Election Commission Of Malaysia
