MALAYSIA ACT TERMINATION OF THE PERIOD OF INDIREC ELECTIONS (SABAH) ORDER 1967

WHEREAS sub-section (1) of section 94 of the Malaysia Act provides that in the Borneo States there shall be a period of indirect elections to the House Of Representatives and to the Legislative Assembly:

AND WHEREAS sub-section (2) of the said section 94 provides that the period of indirect elections in any State shall be, for elections to the House of Representatives, the period up to the first dissolution of Parliament occurring after the end of August, 1968, or, for elections to the Legislative Assembly, the first dissolution of that Assembly so occurring:

AND WHEREAS the said sub-section (2) further provides that with the concurrence of the Governor of a State the Yang di-Pertuan Agong may by order direct that the said sub-section (2) shall have effect in relation to the State with the substitution of an earlier date for the end of August, 1968:

AND WHEREAS the Governor of the State of Sabah has signified his concurrence to the substitution of an earlier date for the end of August, 1968, that is to say, lst January, 1967:

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the aforesaid powers the Yang di-Pertuan Agong hereby makes the following order:

1. This order may be cited as the Termination of the Period of Indirect Elections (Sabah) Order, 1967.

2. It is hereby directed that sub-section (2) of section 94 of the Malaysia Act shall have effect in relation to the State of Sabah with the substitution of the date "lst January, 1967" for the date "end of August, 1968".
