N. 25 Bukit Selambau, Kedah by election was held following the resignation of its elected representative, Y.B. Encik Arumugam a/l Vengararaloo on 8th February 2009. EC had its meeting on the 13th of February and decided on the following dates:

(i) Date of Confirmed Vacancy: 8 February 2009
(ii) Date of Issuance of Writ: 16 February 2009
(iii) Date of Issuance of Notice : 17 February 2009
(iv) Date of Nomination of Candidates: 29 March 2009
(v) Date of Election: 7 April 2009

The Electoral Roll used was updated and re-gazetted on the 18th of February 2009, containing 35,140 voters, which consists of 35,125 ordinary voters and 15 postal voters.
